Coworking in Florianópolis: Spaces Across the Island

Where to work in Florianópolis, comparing coworking in Centro, Santa Mônica, Lagoa da Conceição and Campeche.

Coworking in Florianópolis: Where to Work Across the Island

Florianópolis looks compact on a map until you try to cross the island between two video calls. A coworking space can be excellent and still be the wrong choice if it is an hour from your apartment in summer traffic. Start with where you want to live, then choose a desk nearby. Centro and Santa Mônica are practical for appointments and city routines; Lagoa da Conceição offers water and a social atmosphere; Campeche brings you closer to the southern beaches.

The options below are based on current operator pages, not a claim that we have personally tested every chair and router. Ask each space about day access, call booths, power, air conditioning and its actual opening hours before paying. If you rely on a stable connection, take a trial day before committing to a month. Prices and plans can change quickly, and some “coworking” listings are actually hourly rooms for therapists or meeting spaces rather than everyday desks.

The quick answer by area

In Centro or Santa Mônica, S7 Coworking is a strong first check because it offers day use and monthly workstations. In Campeche, 048 Coworking clearly describes casual use, call booths and several monthly plans. In Lagoa da Conceição, Casa Maré combines coliving and coworking, while Pantai Chill has a more social lakeside setup. For a work-and-stay arrangement in Campeche, ask Mahalo about current desk and room availability.

These are different products. S7 is a conventional professional work space. Casa Maré and Mahalo mix accommodation with community. Pantai combines work with social and wellness activities. Choose according to how much structure your workday needs, not just the photograph of the view.

The spaces to compare

S7 Coworking: Centro and Santa Mônica

S7 is the easiest starting point for someone who needs a straightforward desk, a proper meeting room or a trial day. Its site currently advertises a six-hour day-use option and rotating monthly desk plans, along with meeting rooms at its Centro and Santa Mônica locations. The published site showed R$57 for a six-hour pass and R$297 per month for a limited-use rotating plan when we checked; treat these as a snapshot and confirm the final price and what it includes before booking.

Centro makes sense if you have city appointments, want to handle errands after work or prefer not to organize life around the beach. Santa Mônica may be better if you live around the university or the central-eastern part of the island. Ask which address your chosen plan applies to; operator pages sometimes mention more than one unit and product. If you take calls all day, check the availability and cost of a private room rather than assuming an open desk will be quiet enough.

048 Coworking: Campeche with a real work setup

048 Coworking is inside Oka Floripa in Campeche. Its operator lists shared desks, private offices, meeting rooms and call booths, with casual access by shift or day and several recurring plans. The site currently displays monthly plan figures beginning at R$368, but each plan covers a different amount of use. Confirm the current amount, taxes, hours and whether the plan fits your week before comparing it to a daily pass elsewhere.

This is a good candidate if you want to live in the south of the island and still have a professional place to take calls. It is also useful for people meeting local clients: the mall setting, parking and services are more conventional than a beachfront café. The operator says active plan members can use the space around the clock, while casual use has weekday daytime hours. Ask specifically about your access window if you work North American or European hours.

Casa Maré: work and community by the Lagoa

Casa Maré presents itself as coliving, coworking and community beside Lagoa da Conceição. Its site describes workstations and a creative space, plus private or shared accommodation and recurring community events. It is the sort of place to inspect if meeting people is as important as getting through your inbox.

The tradeoff is that a mixed work-and-living environment may have a different rhythm from a dedicated office. Ask whether non-residents can buy day use, what the desk capacity is, where calls happen and whether events overlap with working hours. If you are considering a room too, check the real commute to your favorite beach, the noise at night and the layout of the workspace. A lovely house can be a poor match for someone with back-to-back confidential calls.

Pantai Chill: a social lakeside option

Pantai Chill advertises coworking with fiber internet, shared workstations, a meeting room, coffee and a verandah facing the Lagoa. Its operator also promotes yoga, happy hours and cultural events. That combination is attractive if you work independently and want your workday to flow into a social evening.

It may be less suitable for someone who needs eight silent hours. Ask how the work area is separated from events, whether calls are welcome, what access costs and which weekdays the coworking currently operates. The site has listed coworking access Tuesday to Friday, so do not assume Monday availability. If you are in Lagoa for a month, a trial day will tell you much more than the venue’s event photos.

Mahalo: Campeche coliving and coworking

Mahalo Coworking & Coliving is another option in Campeche for people who want the accommodation and workspace question solved together. Its site describes a combination of housing, shared work and community activities, including workshops and surf outings. That can be useful for a new arrival who does not yet know anyone on the island.

Treat it as a conversation rather than an instant booking. Ask what rooms and desk arrangements are currently available, whether there is a minimum stay, how the internet performs at peak times and how the house handles quiet hours. If you already have an apartment nearby, ask whether the coworking can be used without staying there. Compare the total cost with separate accommodation and a dedicated desk before deciding.

How to choose the right part of the island

Florianópolis is not one compact “digital nomad neighborhood.” Centro is useful for administrative errands, restaurants and connections to the mainland. Santa Mônica gives you a practical residential base closer to the university and central parts of the island. Lagoa da Conceição appeals to people who want activity around the water and access toward eastern beaches. Campeche is a southern base with beach appeal and a growing set of everyday services.

Pick the location where you can do an ordinary Tuesday well. Imagine the grocery run, a rainy morning, a call at 9 a.m. and the trip home after dark. If your apartment is in Campeche, traveling to Centro for every workday may drain the beach lifestyle you came for. If you need to meet clients in the city, a beautiful desk by the Lagoa may become inconvenient. In high season, allow more time than a map’s best-case drive estimate.

A split routine can work: two or three desk days close to home and an occasional meeting-room day elsewhere. Ask a coworking space whether its pass can be used flexibly before paying for a full monthly plan.

What about cafés?

A café is fine for a short email session or a change of scene. It is rarely a complete replacement for a coworking desk if you make calls, handle confidential information or need uninterrupted power. Before opening a laptop, buy something, ask whether working is welcome, avoid the busiest meal period and do not occupy a four-person table for half a day. Some cafés that are wonderful for breakfast do not want to function as an office.

If you have an important call, book a private room or return to your accommodation. The ocean view will not help when the Wi-Fi drops mid-presentation. Our planned café guide will focus on places that welcome a short work session, while the workspace options above are the safer starting point for a full working day.

Questions to ask before paying

Ask for the actual connection performance at the desk you would use, not only the headline internet speed. Ask about backup power or connectivity if your work is time-sensitive. Check whether there are call booths, how they are reserved and whether they cost extra. Confirm air conditioning, chair comfort, monitor availability, storage, security and guest rules. If your schedule follows another time zone, check whether you can enter and leave at those hours.

For day use, ask whether a reservation is required and whether the advertised pass covers a full day or only a shift. For a monthly plan, check its cancellation terms and the number of days or hours included. For mixed coliving-coworking venues, ask how residents and outside members share the workspace. A short visit and one paid trial day are worth the effort.

A useful first-week work plan

Book accommodation for your first few nights in the neighborhood you are most curious about, rather than locking in an entire month before you understand travel times. Try one conventional coworking space and one community-oriented option. Work a normal day in each, including at least one video call if that is part of your routine. Then walk the surrounding streets after work to see whether you would actually enjoy living there.

If you like the area but not the desk, keep looking locally before moving across the island. If you like the workspace but find the location inconvenient, do not ignore that feeling. Remote work freedom is most valuable when the everyday routine is easy.

Florianópolis can offer a lovely balance of work and island life, but the balance is personal. The best coworking space is the one that lets you finish work reliably and still enjoy the place you chose to live. Start near your neighborhood, ask precise questions and make your decision after an ordinary workday rather than a tour.
